The officers and crew of the HMCS Charlottetown are pleased to lend support to the ships namesake city, and for the past six years have donated time and many kilometers for the PEI chapter of the Children’s Wish Foundation through our charity event the ‘Run 4 Wishes’.   For twenty years, the Prince Edward Island Chapter has been granting the special wishes of Island children. The wishes granted have been as unique and wonderful as the children requesting them!

Thanks to the generous support of Islanders, and the crew of HMCS Charlottetown, Island children have experienced the joy of having their wish come true. The Children’s Wish Foundation’s vision is that every child enjoys the best quality of life possible including the experience of laughter, shared joy and treasured memories with the most important people in their lives. The Children’s Wish Foundations goal is to provide a once in a lifetime experience for children between the ages of three and eighteen who are diagnosed to have high risk, life threatening illnesses. Anticipating the wish experience and sharing it with family and friends provides a wonderful distraction from the harsh realities of illness. The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada is a federally chartered, non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling a favorite wish for these children. The Prince Edward Island Chapter relies solely on the generosity of Islanders, who through donations and fundraisers enable the Chapter to continue its work of granting the wishes of Island children. As public awareness increases, so do the number of children requesting assistance.

Over the past 6 years, this event has raised more than $130000, and with your support we hope to raise enough money to grant four wishes, or $40000 during this year’s run.   This year the ship will be sending 25 crewmembers, officers and Air Force Personnel to support this worthy cause.   There are a number of events scheduled across the Island starting on August 4 th until the final run day on August 8 th.   The list of events can be found on this website and we encourage you to come out and meet us as we run through a community near you.

Every penny donated to the ‘Run 4 Wishes’ goes directly to help a wish child on Prince Edward Island.
